The solar paint : New concept that reduces the power consumption

Pay less for electricity using solar paint,
Imagine if we could provide electricity for all the appliances present in our homes using the paint with which you have painted your house, to our astonishment the latest invention the field of solar energy is this paint.

A team of researchers in the Notre dame university have made a major advance in this field by inventing this paint, which contains semiconducting Nano particles evolving to the development of solar paint. "We want to do something transformative, to move beyond current silicon-based solar technology," says Prashant Kamat, John A. Zahm Professor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry and an investigator in Notre Dame's Center for Nano Science and Technology (ND Nano), who leads the research.
The material that is used in this paint is called as quantum dots which are a power producing Nano particle, by making this Nano particle into a spreadable component they can be coated on to any surface without any special equipment.  Nano sized particles of titanium dioxide, which were coated with either cadmium sulfide or cadmium selenide when these particles were suspended in a water-alcohol mixture to create a paste. When the paste was brushed onto a transparent conducting material and exposed to light, it created electricity.

This paint can be made cheaply and in large quantities. If we can improve the efficiency somewhat, we may be able to make a real difference in meeting energy needs in the future.
